Hobbayne
Went to see an old friend who sings and plays a bit of Jazz and Swing in a small club the other weekend, although its not my sort of thing. When the other musicians found out I played a bit of bass they insisted on calling me up to play a few numbers. After a few pints of Stella I agreed, and attempted the old standard L O V E. I didnt know it was being recorded!! Bilbo
Nowt wrong with that, sunshine! It ain't Coltrane and that synth makes me want to puke but the bass part is doing the job perfectly well. Spend some more time listening to the greats and learn some 'proper' jazz tunes and before you'll know it, everyone will hate you too! Blademan_98
I had to listen to it with my headphones on as my family would have slapped me for listening to Jazz....... Really enjoyed it Good stuff
Hobbayne
Cheers guys! My only reference was 'Nivram' by The Shadows and every cliche and scale (chromatic and otherwise) I could throw in there! Still, I did to get to play on a 1959 Precision with flats on it!! BassBus
For a swing novice that is a pretty good start. I've played worse than that and I've been playing swing for 10 years now. Keep that up and there's no stopping you.

Dad3353
Good evening, Hobbayne... I was hesitating between 'cheezy' and 'rotten', and decided that, for the keyboards, 'rotten cheese' just about does it. The bass..? Nowt wrong with that, lad. We can even hear the 'Stella' taking its' toll at around 3'40 (cheeky run, that...). The outro came as a surprise to you, or have you heard them play before..? Handled like a veteran, whatever. If your rock is as good as your swing, you'll do fine. Well done. (...but the keyboard was really, really, rotten cheese...) Hobbayne
Wow! nice compliments Yes, I did nearly fluff the ending, but a bit of eye contact with the drummer saved it for me. Cheeky run eh? I,ll have another listen. No I havent played this before but I have heard them play a few times, so I just trotted out some cliched root third fifths and some scales, nothing complicated
SirChewey
Fair play mate - good efforts. Shame about the keys - did someone spike his manns and mild?
