Moos3h
Hi folks. I have a no name P bass that I'd like to pimp. I'm going for a Kent Armstrong Pickup, but want to replace the pots and jack for ones from Axesrus, but I have a choice of 250k or 500k log or linear pots and cap value. What? I have no idea. What do I need? I'd like a bright and clear sound with plenty of low end - essentially something that won't interfere with the signal from the pickup. Thanks in advance! Ou7shined
You should probably be looking at the capacitor if you want a change in sound (although why you need to do this before you've heard the pups is... debatable) the pots make no difference to the tone at all, you just get a long sweep or a short one and even then there's not that much in it. There are plenty threads here about capacitance.
Moos3h
That's great, thanks! I thought the pots 'value' did make a difference? Not personally (as in I've never tried it) but is it just a case of hearing what you (one) wants to hear? Cheers, James
Grand Wazoo
This kit does it all and I have used this seller's kits in all my modded Squiers. Excellent value for money and it's all you need in one kit. LukeFRC
the volume pot needs to be a log pot. i think the tone is a lin pot but may be wrong? checking yes I am wrong- both are log pots (AKA audio pots) this PDF from fender may help, http://support.fender.com/service_diagrams/bass_guitars/019-3200_02A_SISD.pdf also check out prices on Musikding - i love that site
