Mr. Foxen
These are pretty rare, so rare I only have two. This is the in better condition of the two, was merely neglected rather than beat, so it cleaned up well. I've loaded it with 6550 taken out of my Matamp (as put in by Matamp, which I guess is a recommendation), seems happy on these, although should have KT88, I assume it runs them pretty easy due to the 150w part. anyway, passive preamp, not the MKIV one with the undeserved bad rep, the other one is my favourite amp at current, which is a position with a lot of competition (Matamp doesn't have it due to being a slave). I've also replaced the electrolytic filter caps, and uprated them, for a bit more headroom in the lows. Neuroscar
Trade for a B120 MKIV one plus cash at my side? Also, how do you manage to keep it in such a clean condition? Especially its leather.
Lemme check my amp pile see if I need a B: Hmmm, reckon I'm good. Haven't had it for very long, the thick coral like crust of filth that was on it seems to have preserved it pretty well.
Pow_22
Purely out of interest how does the amp compare size-wise to the 120's?
Mr. Foxen
Appears to be the exact same box, different chassis.
Mr. Foxen
On Ebay, much cheaper BCer price still applies here: http://my.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbayBeta&SortOrder=ASCEND&GotoPage=2&SellingNext.Filter=All&View=SellingNext&Column=EndTime&CurrentPage=MyeBayNextAllSelling&ssPageName=STRK:ME:PAGE&StoreCatFilter=0&SubmitAction.ChangePage=x&FormatFilter=AllFormat#GoTo315
Mr. Foxen
Coupla days left on this, would really rather sell via BC, totally don't want to ship overseas if I can help it. Need enough notice to pull it mind.
ShergoldSnickers
Used to have a 120 in the mid to late 70s, and like a lot of others, I wish I'd hung onto it. If I win the Lottery I'll PM you tomorrow. This is not a comment on the price asked, which is a steal of bargain basement proportions knowing the care and attention that you put into these amps - but more a comment on my finances. 'Tis a stunner of an amp.
Mr. Foxen
Might have a 200w project on the way, this selling would be a neat way of funding it (in give me some space to put it).
Mr. Foxen
Bump. Wanna lose duplicates, and fund some more interesting amp restorations.
Pow_22
Out of interest (and for a free bump) what is the amp in your 'stack' picture, 2nd one down on the right. That silver grill cloth head would look great sat on my bassman cab, shame i love my B120 so much at the moment
Mr. Foxen
Laney Klipp, that one is sold, but I have one I'm selling for a mate sat here. And a one in need of a new transformer sat with Umph. They are pretty guitary though, have a distortion channel and such.
Neuroscar
Hey im sorry for the offtopic but maybe you've heard or found somewhere of a way to "upgrade" a sound city head to more watt power? I would like some more headroom for my 120! =)
Mr. Foxen
Watt's mean not much in the scheme of things, what is it you are lacking? Your lack of headroom is unlikely to be in the 'watts'. The best way to get more watts is to buy the 150.
Mr. Foxen
This one sold. The new Matamp is tempting me, as can use it as a pre for my slave, and keep it all Matamp, whilst still having the lightweight option. So other one is up for sale at same price, scruffier, but works as well, with KT88s in it:
