q_of_doom
Awesome, thanks fellas. I'll pass on the comments to Andy McGibbon, my Luthier. The couriers are picking it up on Monday with many pics to follow. Fortunately the neck was left well alone except for the same varnish gunk smeared over it which could fortunately be removed. The frets also still have a few years in them. As to why the butcher committed these crimes, we can only speculate. Perhaps he wanted to Jazz it up, or make it a bit lighter, the thing weighs a ton! Or maybe it was one of those instances where a lunatic had to decide between shooting up the post office or taking an angle grinder to a bass. Perhaps we shall never know. @ Luke: Have Warwick, will travel. @ Discreet, you better hope to hell that Mrs. Discreet doesn't read your posts here. Rick's Fine '52
Fantastic, one of the best 'salvage' stories I've seen, lovely bass, crminal work done, and commendable restoration work, hats off to you for taking on the Project, many others would have 'parted' it out, and it would have been lost forever. Fair play indeed! Now, how much do you want for it!
q_of_doom
Hmmmm. Well we could talk swop for some of those first basses in your collection. *Edit* lazy spellchecking. Edited June 5, 2012 by q_of_doom
