Got through the wall!

For the past few weeks I've been feeling as though I'm suffering from Chimp Finger Syndrome. Everything I played sounded horrible. Felt that practising was just preventing me from actually getting any worse, rather than helping me improve.

Anyway - tutor's response last week was to give make me do something even harder! He got me playing 'Black Dog' by Led Zep. I love it so much I just can't stop playing it now. OK, so I'm doing it at about half the speed and keep missing out the hammer ons (or should that be 'hammers on'? :) ). But it amazed me to hear something coming out of the amp that bore a faint resemblance to Black Dog, and to realise that I was doing it!!

I'm so pleased with myself I just wanted to share with you all.

That's excellent, always good to feel you are progressing in some way. I think I realistically peaked about 10 years ago and probably won't get any better (and I'm very very average at best) but occasionally there's something that just won't work out quite right for ages and then miraculously seems to fit into place and it's a little victory. If Black Dog is a good workout get an accurate transcript of The Lemon Song and give that a go. It's a bit of a beast from what I recall!
