Dubs
There are quite a few available. Does anyone have any recommendations?
stringintheshade
I use gstrings and it's now replaced all the other tuning widgets I've got lying around. Success with bass will somewhat depend on the quality of the sound / mic on your phone I imagine.
Kraken
I'll Second gStrings I use it quite a lot and it works really well I have a HTC Desire for what it is worth. (reading SITS's comment about Hardware)
ezbass
Yeah gStrings works fine, especially as it's free
thisnameistaken
I've been using gStrings to tune my DB for the last couple of years, used it to tune acoustic guitars in the street before now too.

Rumple
Don't use it much as I forget it's there! but gString on an HTC Desire works well.
lemmywinks
I've been using GStrings since it came out, never really needed anything else. Works well with guitar and bass which is all I really need. Are there any other decent free ones? Everyone I know (and on here) seems to just use GStrings! The_D
I use Cleartune, used to use Gstrings but it struggled to pick up my low E at times so thought I would try something else (didnt pay for it as I managed to find a back door way to installing aps). HTC desire here too btw.
AntLockyer
Was using GStrings but had trouble with the E plus trying to tune a guitar at a gig jsut did not work, had to go to the car park
