Hello, fellow bashers!

I hope you all got home safe. I thoroughly enjoyed my first Bass Bash, and I've posted some pics on my Facebook page - my profile photo is the same as the one here. Next year I may pluck up the courage to attempt the Basseoke - total respect to those of you who got up and did the business.

Had a whoppingly good time......scared myself to death coming off the snow covered motorway

great beer with some top people, great curry, more beer, stroked lots of woody bits.....

Basyokey worked really well I think. It got lots of people up playing that maybe would not have done otherwise, great response from people there, very supportive to the players. Shaun and the band are great guys to play with......hopefully others will post lots of photos.........cos I took bugger all

Very tired now......roll on the next one...;)

ok chaps just a wee update.

I managed to get cracking vids of the bassokey. I have started uploading them to my youtube account and I will get them linked ASAP (yes Rich that means tomorrow  )

The good news is,,,,I wont be uploading of any of Dave Perrys....its not cos its bad,,,,its because the man is such a legend on bass he bloody shows the rest of us up for the charlatans we all are (love you man and that was some great banter going on over the weekend ;) )

Hello again folks. I was feeling tired, but I'm fed and watered now and feeling a bit more alive. Therefore, have a video.

Please excuse the sound, I only hope I don't sound like a sea creature when I phone people!

Thanks to everyone that made the effort to support the event this year. The usual suspects and the guys that were there for the first time, hope to see you all again next year.

Thanks to Shaun and Lee for setting up the band and my partner in crime Dave for running the bassokey which was a great success. I missed it all sitting up stairs making sure none of the huge pile of gear went missing while everyone else was in the theatre.

You would not believe how many buns and cakes were eaten over the course of the day so thanks to the Mrs for making all of them.

I have a few pics in my phone which I will get up later today.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!!

I don't know about you guys but I'd put this one down as the best one yet (bar the 1st one which was a very different affair) despite the weather keeping the numbers down a little. Thanks to Alan and everyone who participated.

As usual a fantasticly diverse selection of basses to get your hands on - there also seemed like what might have been a record amount of ACGs "coming home" this time too.
Because I'm weird, I was particularly taken by a home made (of German origin), fun take on a Fender-Musicman-Rickenbacker hybrid called (I think) the Fendmanbacker which I had a sneaky shot of upstairs and which we then got to hear expertly played at the bassokey.

The bassokey was a blast. It was refreshing to have bass players as the focus of a performance for a change and to see how differently we all took to the stage with our respective weapons of choice. There was no fancy-schmancy pretentiousness just ordinary bassists getting their groove on.... apart from Dave of course who is so legendary he managed to play scary basslines with his fingers while simultaneously playing backing keyboards with his toes. linky :sun_bespectacled:
I'm glad I got a chance at a second tune after the band played an alternative rendition of my 1st choice, leaving me guessing where all the changes were and a little mystified at the end where the significant middle dynamic had dissapeared to. :D On the other hand I got to do some interesting bass-nastics in that one when my strap came off - I'll have to check the vids but I don't think I dropped a note.

Shaun and the boys were fantastic this year - tight, funny and the mix was spot on too. And it looks like perhaps an off-shoot event with the band "feat. guest bassists" might be on the cards at some point. I hope this idea comes to fruition.

Another highlight for me were the EAD cabs. I hope one day to maybe get a hold of a pair of Foundation 112's. I hadn't seen the new coating in the flesh and I was very impressed. They were every bit as awesome as I'd expected they'd be....

... as was everybody who attended.

The whole thing was so awesome in fact that I never thought to take any pics or vids this time so bring 'em on folks.

Hey guess what was on the telly when I got home last night?

edit : just found the first bassokey track on yt. Thank to Peterjam. :)

Here is a link to the YouTube video mentioned by ou7shined above http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6SX6izYn9A I think the Basse-okey, (we'll need to sort out how to spell it properly!), was brilliant. It's all too easy to sit at home and perfect a tune, but it's not the same as playing it live with real musicians - insert drummer joke here.

Well, having gone up a day early to miss the snow and stayed on a day for the same reason I'm finally home. It was a little dicey in the final couple of miles as I thought it may be but the thaw was on and I made it.

Best ever no doubt! The friendly atmosphere was a credit to all. My non bass friends who were staying in the hotel over the road came along for an hour and were bemused, amused and enchanted at the same time by this odd gathering.

What with looking after them, listening to the band and being terrified as my Basseokey spot neared my camera was severely neglected but I'll check out the results.

Thanks go to everyone who was there and took part in some great bassy banter. Especial thanks go to Alan, Dave, Shaun and the band and especially Lihnnie for those great cakes :)

Peter

Opions of the 7 string HK? SO tempted to pull the trigger on one! (even though i'm saving, and it could be balls (apprently consistancy isn't 100% even though i'm 100% sure rich could turn it into something stunning!) )

And Mr Zeros inlay dragon bass is AWESOME. Love Inlays like that!

Will try my very hardest to be there next year! (Regretting not being able to make to already :( )

Bass of the day for me was probably the Moth. If it were fretted I'd be pleading with Alan to let me have it (yes I know there's a queue Dave :) ).

Did anyone actually get around to counting how many ACG's had 'come home'? I wonder what Alan feels like when confronted with all his history?

Peter
