danweb22
Just wondered if anyone on here with Dingwall AB1 experience has tried the active and passive versions? Did you think it made a big difference? Were there more useful tones from the active? or is the passive good enough? Is the active worth the extra money? Thanks in advance! PTB
I had a Dingwall for a few months this year. It was a passive AB1 but the previous owner had added an EMG pre-amp. This was hissy so I replaced the vol knob with a push/push to select active or passive. Once that was done, I preferred the passive sound - but not enough to keep the bass. danweb22
ok, I have heard that the passive AB1 sounds like an active output wise and I suppose an amp has a preamp so probably no need for the active! (and it would save about £200!!)
swanbrook
Don't know about the ab1 but I played a abz which was passive and it blew me away! Them pick ups are hot for a passive bass. I went for a abII in the end just because I got a killer deal.
