rOB
Good evening effects experts/nerds, I recently heard some sound clips of the Akai UB1 Unibass Harmonised Bass Distortion and really fancy one. After a little research it turns out that they're are discontinued and very rare. Damn Does anyone know of any effect that does something similar? i.e. adds an octave up note with the option of distorting the added note, the added notes around the added note would be an excellent bonus. Come on, such a thing must have copied. Gust0o
Anyone? I'd be interested; I had no idea these existed, but they sound a very cool little pedal!
EskimoBassist
Fishman have just brought out something comparable, there's a thread on it on here. Personally I would look to combine a separate gain unit and harmoniser/octaver in one loop together. If it's say octave up and down you're after, you can't go wrong with the EHX Micro Pog, or if it's something more complicated you're after (say +/- 5ths, 4ths etc), perhaps look at the Eventide Pitch Factor? The Digitech Whammy also provides all kinds of cool harmonies and shifts. Combine any of those with a fuzz/distortion pedal of your choice and you'll get that sound. Kiwi
I have one, but it can be replicated easily enough. cheddatom
you;d need to blend it with your dry signal, but yeh. I don't think the POG can do 5ths or 4ths though?
Gust0o
I'm unsure I'd be that precise, to be honest. I am nothing if not ignorant, sadly.

rOB
Thanks for your responses. I like the look of the Fishman Fission (around £270). I also like the idea that I/we could do it cheaper with a chain set up. Right quick google search shows POGs at around £150, think I've got a Ibanez distortion/overdrive somewhere. Can anyone recommend a signal split/blend pedal?
EskimoBassist
LS-2 is your ultimate utility pedal for guitar/amp/line switching, for parallel chains and clean blending. The swiss army tool of the pedal world, it will do this a easily.

Think I'll save this thread and if my 4-piece band falls apart then the next idea is a bass, drums and vocals trio (Kinda want to do this anyway). Things like this could be very useful
