Grassie Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Just watched this. Only just managed to watch all the way through. Apologies if it's been posted before... Dood Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I thought things were going just great up to 3 minutes or so - some really nice harmonies in there. The phone rang so I didn't watch to the end, but it did go a bit murky.... Quote
discreet Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 They need someone in there holding down the bottom end. Quote
retroman Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 That's about as cheesy as it gets.......... Quote
Oopsdabassist Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Cheesy yes,and ultimately...boring, not my cup o' tea at all, reminded me of 2 guitarists I know trying to outdoor each other on stage at a benefit show, very embarrasing. Quote
xgsjx Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Those two should have just taken up guitar. Quote
Monckyman Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Should have saved this for apres coffee. Then at least I could have spat it out. Quote
oldslapper Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 If people insist on buying level 42 records, this is what will come of it. Quote
geoffbassist Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I'm embarrassed for them. Couldn't switch off soon enough. Quote

steve-bbb Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 made it to 48 seconds ... can i have them back please? Quote
TheRev Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 You've got to admire the attitude of the dude with the white jazz, taking to the stage in his PJs - well laid back! Quote
rapscallion Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Its a shame, I really enjoy bass driven music (Primus, DFA1979, any funk/motown) but the "bass solo" is just embarassing. I've watched endless videos of Billy Sheehan, Stu Hamm (ultimately Stu Hamm doesn't perform "bass solo's", they're just rehashed attempts of everything he's done before), Wooten, and many others, who just get on stage and try and play as fast as possible whilst pulling stupid faces, for what? To impress the crowd? It makes me cringe Quote
Grassie Posted October 27, 2011 Author Posted October 27, 2011 I think the guy with the green-pointy-whammy-8string is particularly scary. I can't believe anyone would think this was good. Now, don't get me wrong, I love a bit of slap (even though I can't do it for love nor money), but there doesn't seem to be any merit in playing like that whatsoever. The tone of those two just grate. A cacophony of sh*te. Quote
El Bajo Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 The beginning makes me want to go to Japan Godda love them for the cheese factor. It got boring, I managed to get halfway through. Quote
Clarky Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Beats working in an office for a living though Quote

TheGreek Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I'm going to stick my head above the parapet here and wait to get it shot down..I enjoyed it..thought both players were solid in what they did, good tone from both basses and it gave the Bassist(s) a chance to shine and come to the front instead of the guitarists.. should I duck?? MoonBassAlpha Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 We used to call it "showing off" in the old days. Quote
lapolpora Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I liked it too. But bass distortion needs to be handled with care. I'd find it interesting to see how this featured in the context of the whole gig. I don't know a lot about Caseopia - but from what I've seen they are all great players. Quote
