Sit down and discuss your own bass, all your bells, whistles and cup holders and get it made. Or go on something like the Shuker 1 to 1 course? stingrayPete1977 Posted October 28, 2011 Share Posted October 28, 2011 I think Charics idea of doing a 1 to 1 course is the best so far, you already have some great basses (and some Dingwalls ) but to have something made by yourself that no one else can buy might be more satisfying than you think. As someone who tinkers with old cars the young lad that has rebuilt a land rover or similar using his pocket money and bare hands always looks happier with himself than a guy that's just either bought or commissioned a restored Jag or Porsche in all the car mags. I highly suggest getting a J at the bridge w/sunburst + tort! Classic P bass with a twist, although your J is almost the same pickup arrangement. [/quote] Sheldon is in the process of designing a P bass for Dave Swift of "Later with Jools Holland", its no secret and its all documented here on the Dingwall website, [url="http://www.dingwallguitars.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2139"]http://www.dingwallguitars.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2139[/url] The idea is for 60's style p not the telecaster slab body with a Split P in the neck position and a J style in the bridge, at the moment they are debating whether to have it solid body or chambered like the Super J, Shledon said he wants to maintain a low weight and to achieve this either he makes it chambered or keeps the body thin, but not Aerodyne thin just something in between. I believe the chambered option will prevail. Also they are debating about the scale length but you can read more in that thread. [/quote] The aerodyne's not any thinner than a normal jazz in the centre (I just checked), it just tapers off outside the line of the neck. And mine is certainly nice and resonant.
