Monckyman
Hello all. So, lately my BDDI has been acting a little eccentrically regarding power. I first thought something was odd when the power supply I was using didn`t seem to work, so I found another one and that worked. Fast forward two weeks and lately I`ve found that if I plug the power supply into my 4 way, then put the cable tip into the BDDI, it won`t work. If I put the tip in first THEN plug the power supply in,then it usually works. Not always though, had to plug in 3 times last gig before it decided to work. Not sure why this is happening, must be something in the circuit to protect against surges maybe, and it could be seeing power up as a surge? Just a guess. So seeing another post here concerning a BDDI only working on Batts, I thought I`d share and see if it`s a common problem. MM
icastle
Well, it's not surge protection - that's just a simple voltage regulator that disspiates any excess voltage as heat - anything that sees power up as a surge and then cuts out is a defect. Best guesses off the top of my head and without seeing the unit are:- 1) A faulty socket that is not switching between internal batteries and external PSU each time (it's a mechanical switch usually - think active bass output socket but in miniature). 2) You're using a power supply which has an adaptor plug on the end that is fractionally too small to push the switch back in a repeatable and consistant manner. Monckyman
Hmm more tests needed I reckon.
