Dave D
I have an Ibanez SR305 which, for a sub £300 bass, plays pretty well. I thought i'd try this as a cheap entry into the world of 5 strings. I want this to be my main bass until i can afford my Sterling 5, but the output of the pickups seems really low, compared to my other active bass. Obviously i can manage this to a degree using the gain on the amp, but the difference is vast. The pickups are just stock units, and not the Bartolinis on the higher models. Any ideas apart from new pickups? The pickups are as high as i dare go, and i have a new battery in!
51m0n
You aren't alone, the sr300 series are very very low output for active. If you amp has a passive input you can and may as well use that. Using the gain control is perfectly OK too. It is a bit of a PIA but look at it this way, you probably change battery less as a result.... xgsjx
I've never played a SR300, but have you tried raising the pickups up some to see if that improves things?
