The string retainer looks wrong and there are three controls - look at the truss rod access....found in an Uncle's loft I expect!
Musky
That's definitely not a Fender, 70's or otherwise.
ash
Thought not. I hope the high bidders don't go too mad if its a cheap copy.
paul_5
looks like a three piece body - one for each control knob.
LemonCello
The string button looks right (as compared to my own genuine 70's P) if a bit new looking. The giveaway has to be the three control knobs?????? WTF.... LC
uke
Trussrod access on headstock was the give away to me! (then the rest )
Nibody
doesn't look right to me either. Genuine 1981 P bass headstock (Courtesy of Wikipedia) and the one in the Ad.
the boy
I suggest the claim of a bereavement in the family should prompt us to handle this case quite sensitively guys. This may be a genuine case of "not knowing" what they are selling.
Nibody
I suggest the claim of a bereavement in the family should prompt us to handle this case quite sensitively guys. This may be a genuine case of "not knowing" what they are selling.
That could be true, but the oposite could be the case too - If you didn't know what you were looking for (I'm only just learning)and just looked up the serial number you could get fleeced for a lot of money for a cheap copy with a headstock logo mod. I'd hope that it is genuine it may have been modded. Im afraid if I was spending serious money on a bass, i wouldn't distance buy.
