jakenewmanbass Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) not what you might expect. I've heard some people say here that Tal Wilkenfeld is not deserving of her recognition. I think her playing on this shows that she really is... especially the fill at 6.11 really lovely! It's a lovely version although vocally Gabriel and Bush are a hard act to follow... Edited November 1, 2011 by jakesbass Quote
leschirons Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 That's really nice. Yup, she plays that beatifully. Any idea who played guitar? Quote

leschirons Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Had an idea it may have been, perfect for this version. Thanks. Quote
Killerfridge Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I love Tal, and people who say she doesn't deserve her reputation have never heard her really play! Great arrangement too Quote
leftybassman392 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Thanks for that Jakes. Made my day. One of my very favourite Peter Gabriel songs, and a lovely, lovely version. Definitely J.B. on guitar too for me . I've always liked Tal's playing, and if it's good enough for the likes of Herbie Hancock then that'll certainly do for me. Quote

jakenewmanbass Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 I had an interesting thought... the bass players that I really rate are the ones that when I hear their ideas I have to pick up my bass to see where they are coming from, there were a few lines in that that I just HAD to cop. Most importantly it reveals just how subjective it is! Quote
steve-bbb Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 that guitar solo is LUSH ....and listen to the way HH listens to the band and just does the most discreet and perfect fills - you barely notice at first that there is a piano in there until you start listening for it Quote
