DiscoDave
I thought it was about time I did a "hello" post. I have been hanging around reading lots on this forum for a while and its been both a great help and inspiration. As well as causing me GAS every time I log on. I have been playing bass for 21 years in various bands and some session work. I must say at the rip age of 37 I'm having more fun than ever. I play in a band writing all original material www.vanzatti.co.uk. This year we played on one of the main stages at the Isle of Wight Festival, supported Fun Loving Criminals and started recording our first album....with two in the band over 35 I can honestly say your never too old. I play a 1984 Fender Jazz fretless and a custom Alembic Essence (see gear porn/ Alembic Thread). Rig wise I went Ampeg > Ashdown > Mark Bass ....then it happened...I fell in love....her name....Aguilar. I went down to Mansons in Exeter and whilst they were giving my Alembic a good going over I tried out a SL112 they had in stock. It was exactly the sound I had been looking for. So I took the one they had in stock and I'm about to order the second one. Next on the list is the TH500 which I'm working on. I also picked up an Aguilar Octamizer which I'm loving with my MXR Envelope Filter. After I get the rest of my new rig I'm going to start on the scary task of building a flight case. The SL112's really sound better lifted off the ground and being so light putting them together in one flight case they should still be very portable. Any suggestions/advice on the build would be great. Any way a big thanks to all on Bass Chat...I just hope I can be as helpful to others and i promise to stop lerking and start posting.
