Stratosphere
Hi all, newbie reporting in, just started learning a few weeks ago, using an Ibanez SR300 active thingy that eats batteries, a 20 yr old Cub 30 practice amp, and just picked up the VOX ACI RV Bass. So to my questions ... has anyone tried this amp http://www.voxamps.com/uk/ac1rv/ac1rvbass/ and if so what do you think of it? I'm not sure if mine is faulty but it's putting out very very low volume with the bass running through it, but the drum machine and mp3 throughput is fine. I've spoken to VOX support but the chap hadn't tried one, spoke to the shop I got it from but they hadn't tried one, took it into Gear4Music and the bass chap there tried it and said it was probably right but of course the only way to tell is to compare it with another one but no-one has them ... Any thought please? Just want to be able to sit at the kitchen table (or wherever) to practice without lugging the heavy one around the house. Thanks, Ed
Wally
Dam that's small! Did you try it before you bought it and have you noticed it's got quieter since new? Try cutting all the bass and boosting all the highs on your bass tone knobs. It's the only way I reckon you'll get a output from a bass guitar at all. Stratosphere
Yup, small but it's very pretty No bought it unseen and untried. Only had it three days now but it's been one of those learning experiences! Anyway they're only 49 quid so you can't go too far wrong. And many thanks for the suggestion of boosting the highs etc, the thing is now pushing out a clean sound at the sort of volumes I was expecting. Lots of fret and string noise at those settings and not the full mellow bass sound that I like of course but probably good for practice purposes which is what it's for. That's probably the only setting I hadn't tried in two days of knob twiddling! Cheers, Ed
