allighatt0r
I was at a local guitar and bass centre yesterday, and picked up an Encore 7/8 bass to try, and as i picked it up i noticed how stupidly light it was, (according to a catalogue, it's made of 'wuton', a low mass Far Eastern tonewood.) The neck is as wide (and so is the string spacing) as a normal P bass, and so are the pickups, It's just smaller (one eighth smaller to be precise). Harmony Central give it terrible reviews, but the reviewers were leaving it as standard, i think i would replace the pickups, and perhaps the bridge, as it looks like it's a full size one. Another mini bass is of course, the DeArmond Ashbory basses, which are ridiculously small. What other small basses are there? Perhaps there are some more high end than the Encore

Alternatively for something a bit more fun Fernandes PIE-ZO 25.5" scale "travel" bass - scroll down to the bottom of the frame for the basses. Jean-Luc Pickguard
I have a few shorties

an Ashbory.
a CIJ Fender Mustang (30")
a '71 Fender Musicmaster(30")
a 90's Squier Musicmaster (30")
a Danelectro longhorn reissue (30")
My Daughter also has

a '71 Fender Musicmaster
a daisyrock Heartbreaker (30")
a Daisyrock Stardust Elite (32") - which is lovely
my favourite bass at the moment is the mustang - It has the fastest neck of all my basses and as the strings feed through the body Thomastic Jazz Flatwounds JF324s fit on it which is a massive bonus to me. I tried some "vintage" 70s mustangs in Denmark street and for some reason the ones I was able to try were very knackered and/or very overpriced.
