Do ampeg still make them?[/quote] Nope! They went out of production in about 1999. I tried one of these at a gig couple of years ago, and it had that "SVT" sound, without the hernia-inducing weight. (The owner wouldn't sell it to me ) They're no good for a 5-string, because they haven't got the "bottom" to cope, but for medium-sized gigs (even without P.A. assistance) they're the business.
