glitterskinjim
ok. I have an ampeg classic 15" cab. the problem occours at half volume upwards. basicly at low volumes it sounds lovely, but when it gets louder the cab starts to buzz/rattle, Its starts to sound like it has a seriuos flatulence problem and my lovely clear, deep and warm tone dissapears. I've eliminated it being the amp or bass driver by replacing both of these. is there a way to fix my problem, for example sealing all the joints (especialy the front baffle board where the speaker is mounted) with a silicone sealant like you use around the bath? or is it time to nuy a new cab? your help and advice is much appreciated Jim
Musky
If you've tried a different driver I'm assuming you've checked the the driver mounting bolts are tight - likewise the rear baffle. Failing that, see if you can figure out where the rattle is coming from by firmly pressing on the sides (the rear baffle being the most likely). Fixing an extra batten could sort out the problem once you have figured out where the rattle is coming from.
Beedster
Happened with my old Warwick 411 for months until ai found a tiny screw stuck to the magnet. It really loved to dance to C sharps. Amazing how much noise a half inch piece of steel can make
