Spoombung Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Hmm. Not a good selection, however - no soapbar pickups... Quote

Spoombung Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 I'm sure there was a guy importing them on Basschat few months ago...? Quote
chris_b Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Try Chandlers, Charlie Chandler, Bass Gallery, Bass Direct or order them direct from Bartolini in the US. Quote

aldude Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Thomann - in Germany, which is in the EU, so no worry about import taxes/charges. Still, I would like a P/J set, and they don't seem to be anywhere (apart from on Bartolini's site). Quote
tauzero Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 I bought a seven-string set from BestBassGear.com some time back. It was all quite painless. Quote

Barts seem to be so so popular as an upgrade. Quote
Chris2112 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Oh, I do love Bartolini pickups, they sound great in my Zon. And they sounded great in my Zoot fretless too! Quote
warwickhunt Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011
slightly off topic.... in a warwick whats the difference between (roughly) between the MEC's and the brats. Barts seem to be so so popular as an upgrade.
From the off, I have to say that this is unscientific, subjective and anecdotal and just my humble opinion! I used to have a fretless SSI that had MECs which I swapped out for EMGs... and couldn't tell a jot of difference (preamp remained original Warwick MEC)! I then (within a week) took out the EMGs and fitted Barts and I'd say that the Barts sounded 'darker' with a more pronounced low mid tone which certainly suited the Warwick BUT you'd have to take into account that I'd not changed strings (used the same set which had been on and off the bass at least 3 times and may well have mellowed in tone from when they were new with the MECs), however still taking into account that the strings could be a factor AND I'd not heard the MECs for a couple of weeks, I'd still say the Barts had more character (maybe something that some folks wouldn't want?). If I don't flog these Barts they may well end up in my red SSI but I've not been fussed to go to the trouble yet, especially as I'll likely be selling the SSI at some point in the near future (I have another Streamer that I play more frequently). AttitudeCastle Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 yourchoiceguitar definately! Adam is a great guy, and can get you any Barts you want! Quote

aldude Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Hello warwickhunt How much would you like to offload those Barts for? I'd ideally like a 8SU for the P, brighter than the 8S apparently... but I'd take anything Bartolini! Quote

nottswarwick Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I've just emailed your choice guitars so fingers crossed... Quote
Spoombung Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 The Yourchoice guy is very disorganised and has some sort of problem with all his emails going straight to a spam filter or something like that. He emailed me back 3 and a half months after my first email and asked me if I still wanted the pickups I asked him for. Quote
