sshorepunk
Check this You Tube clip out, it's a local bass player called Nige Clutterbuck who's been scaring the crap out of normal bass players for a good few years, I'm sure some of you know him! He's also a Rotosound rep' or was? Please take the clip in the context it was intended, a speed slap fest! (gotta say that cos this sort of thing always gets a slating), The guy is a good all round player, who can hold down a groove as well as do his crazy stuff, there is a fairly broad range of techniques featured here Warwick and Mark Bass featured also! sshorepunk
Yeah, I saw that one! Is that recent cos I thought e-basses stopped production a few years back, or are they still aking the odd bass? Tony
Soulfinger
I like that disclaimer: "Nigel uses a technique he calls Rhythmsync where he confesses, notes are an optional extra!" AFAIK he´s the one who played all the sound clips on http://www.rotosound.com/ , including the "theme song". ped
Ahh, the infamous 'Bass Stuido' section of the London Guitar Show. My oh my what a letdown. the entire contents of the 'Bass Studio' is captured in that clip - a couple of Markbass rigs (actually only a 6x10 when me and Kiwi got there), one Warwick bass and a few individuals gathered in dark corners presumably to escape the noodling from downstairs. The room was tucked away a bit, too - we found ourselves in some hangar and all manner of industrial warehouses before appearing back in the main room of the show. It was a thoroughly underwhelming and shoddy affair!
The Funk
The guy can clearly play but in those clips you can see he's just having fun - f*ck everything else like "taste". The bits I like are where he takes it easy and hints at grooves. I'd check out his serious playing though after seeing what he does when he's having fun. I play nonsense when I'm pissing around too. ednaplate
I remember seeing Nigel in a band years ago when I was at school. He played a Rickenbacker then. Seen him in Tescos in Walkden a few times. Great playing... but where is the tune?
