I remember seeing photos of a (presumably) home-made instrument with an electric bass guitar neck attached to a kick-drum as the resonating body. Shaggy Posted November 11, 2011 Share Posted November 11, 2011 Not a folk instrument as such; I play some Renaissance / Baroque lute and couldn't resist this theorbo / arch-lute recently; traded my best mandolin for it. I should have pictured it next to a P-bass for scale - it's 5' 9" long! - but eggshell-light. Courses should be double rather than single as is; I need to source or make some more tuning pegs. [/quote] Behind the lower pegbox for the fretted strings, not the upper one for the diapsons. Suprisingly comfy to play - effectively an ordinary tenor lute with part of a harp grafted onto it - but I wouldn't go busking with it!
