What length instrument cable?

Just out of curiosity really what length instrument cable do you use?

about 4m i think. Too much length (oh err missus) drives me nuts in the pissy spaces that pubs give you to play in. In fact 2m would probably be enough in most of em!

I've added Don't know and the option for multiple lengths to be added

6 m for instrument and effects loop. I used to use a wireless but found it compromised the tone too much (too much 'suck'). And one more thing to worry about running out of batteries.

Being in a 10-piece band and playing small stages, I have barely enough room to swing a cat. I therefore use a 3 metre cable.

I use a really short one (2m/3m) if I'm using my practice amp, a longer 4m one with Neutrik Silent R/A jack on it, and a <10m (well, it started out as a twenty metre, then a 10m and short patches - the 4m above plus 2x 3m). the 10m one got mangled somehow (somebody probably ran over the end with a fully laden trolley ), so it became 8m long, and had the addition of a normal Neutrik R/A plug on it

BTW, I make all my own cables, so they're customised to a certain extent

I use the shortest one I can sensibly get away with - not for any sonic considerations just to avoid loads of cable lying around and getting trodden on.

I don't dance around much (rare in a bassist I know!) and, having never played Glastonbury, have little need for long leads. 3m works for most of the places we play but I also have 5m spares in my gig bag should I feel like being a bit more adventurous.

I've got loads of cables so it depends on the gig. They range from about 2m to the largest thats about 18m if i remember correctly.

Make all my own cables too so they're not always set lengths.

Generally 6m for me - play a lot of theatres with big stages, so need the length(...!!!)
However, don't like to be too far from my gear, so this seems to define things nicely.

I have a few different ones, depending on the gig & how much room there is.
So I put 6m, 10m, 10-15m & dont know, as a couple of them are just made up using another cable.

A 3m one from pedals to amp and another 3m from bass to pedals

Depends on the gig If I'm on 2 basses and pedal board, 2 2 metre leads going into an AB box, then a 6 metre or an 8 metre (that needs reterminating though) lead. I have a nice choice
