EssentialTension
Ah, fairy nuff. I never cut the strings, so they are shoved right to the bottom of the trees. As a result, my A's have a nice healthy break angle. Angled headstock? Schmangled Schmeadstock.
That's the way to do it.
KiOgon
Blimey, how did they ever cope back in the 50's, 60's and 70's before this was invented
Yeah & the 80's, 90's, even 00's. 60 years without it
Spike Vincent
I'll wait until the cheap Chinese copies appear and then use one as a sparklerholder.
BigRedX
An angled head stock is very expensive to make compared to the usual Fender design.
Maybe back in the late 40s/early 50s when Fenders first came out, but these days I doubt it very much. If it was we wouldn't see any angled headstocks from the cheaper far eastern guitar factories. IMO if the break angle of all the strings is equal the compliance (how stiff they feel) of the strings is more even. With a non-angled headstock unless you run all the strings under a retainer immediately after then nut getting the same break angle for all 4 strings is pretty much impossible - especially if the retainer for the G and D strings is in front of the A string machine head post. Plus anything extra in the string path between the nut and the machine head causes problems while tuning.

lee4
And this pointless bit of metal will add how much to the price of a bass?
