uke Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Another one from a famous loft this time! Very few photos. Mr. Foxen Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011
I've tried to show the bass the best I can in the picture.
Ha. Poor effort. Quote
Ou7shined Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 The misemployment of "brought" for "bought" right at the start of the description pretty much made me tune out straight away. He's been into the neck pocket, shouldn't the neck have a stamp in the heel too? Quote
lemmywinks Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 "who claimed he recovered it from the loft of John Entwistle's old home, better know as the Ox. Can't verify that" Why bloody mention it then? It really gets my goat when a provenance is hinted at with no effort or intention to verify it. As if namedropping a famous deceased player and alluding to a tenuous link between them and the instrument in the listing somehow adds value to it. Quote
Musky Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I thought this rang a bell. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/58115-john-entwhistles-jazz-bass Got to be the same one surely. Quote

Yep same serial... although I guess a whole bunch of fake decals all have the same number on. Hey maybe we should start a database of hooky serials on here - could save a lot of hassle in the long run. Quote

EBS_freak Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 It must be good. It's got a BadAss on it. Quote

MB1 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 MB1. What was this old timer covered in bird crap doing in John Entwistles loft? Quote
mep Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) From what I've seen and heard of John Entwistle he had all his basses out in various rooms, not stuck up in the loft. What a load of old tripe! Also, what a crap set of photo's. No full shots of the bass at all. Edited November 14, 2011 by mep Quote

Though even the logo looks fake - not much sign of the gold around the Fender which IIRC was quite wide in that era. Quote
SidVicious1978 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 i know it might be fake but with a nice nitro paint job it could be an awesome looking/playing bass Quote
allighatt0r Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Has anybody reported this travesty? Quote
leschirons Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Well, it can, and does happen. I found this in John Entwistle's loft. Anybody interested at £4,000? Quote
