Many many basses have crossed my palms - 2 Stingrays, 2 Ibanezes, 6 Warwicks, 2 Yamahas, A Cort, a Satellite but never a Precision or a Jazz alas. I had pretty much the same waking revelation, and ordered this beauty. It's the first time I've actually thought about being a one bass man, it's been a very long time! @ped I remember the good old days of Bassworld, I seem to recall being quite active on there for a while. That's crazy you managed to find one with no electronics! How?? Well you've added some serious mods to it, I bet it sounds great. How do you find bass with the Roland pickup thing? I've never really played around guitar synth stuff before, does it track well on bass? @Snarf That is just the tip of the iceberg for me 😂 I was a 6 stringer before I moved 5. Then I went though - 6 Warwick’s, 7 Yamaha’s TRB & RBX, 2 Dingwalls, 4 MM Bongo’s (2 x 6 strings and 2 x 5 strings), 1 MTD 5 string, 2 Fender Dimension 5s (1 x US Deluxe and 1 x Squire Deluxe), 2 Ibanez 4 strings, 1 Marlin Slammer, 1 Squire Jazz, 1 Hohner Steinberg and 1 Fender Precision MIJ 4 which I still have to this day. My folks bought it for me for Christmas, back in ‘86. I’m sure that’s pretty much it including the previously mentioned Mike Lull and Fenders 😳😂 Edited February 23, 2018 by mattbass6
Snarf
bloody hell, that's a mega list! I missed off another Ibanez and a short stint with a 7 string bass, but still mine pales in comparison to that monster load!! And on another note, turns out it was your actual no1 that I played that set me off on my Vigier quest! Where did you order your purple beast from? I know, bloody crazy isn’t it 🤪 That’s so cool about my no. 1 starting you off on your Vigier quest. Sweet!! As for my new one, I’ve been lucky enough to secure an artist endorsement with them so, I’m getting it directly from Vigier and High Tech Distribution. So excited. Really cannot wait 😉
Snarf
That low B was the absolute winner for me! Good man, I'm working on the High Tech stand this weekend with Ben, he was telling me about your new one. It's going to be sexy! I've got to say the Vigier lot are all absolute gems, such a great bunch!

Snarf
He said hi back. Wow, it was a great show this year - the biggest I've seen it there. Almost like going back in time to the golden age of guitar shows, so many good stands!

wright/watt
Have recently just obtained a Vigier Passion11 in greenburst to go along with my Passion111 custom in funky orange (not sure what the colour is!! though the bass is a funk machine!) So comparison between the carbon neck and the 10/90 system on the go at the moment....Both a joy to play and a very happy bassist
ped
Beautiful!! Quite unusual to see a series 3 with dots on the fretboard. Let us know your feelings on series II vs III

wright/watt
Hi Ped. Having had only a couple of days with Mr Green i love it....Lighter and more sustain, but to early to judge...I need to replace the Schaller bridge. alas the rollers have siezed and no ammount of force or lubrication is working.so an overhaul of bridge and tuners now ordered at touchstone in (Black) will look good...Will let you know difference between, over time.but just enjoying having two maybe slightly ostentacious i know.... Had an Arpege series 4 4 string...just did not take to the bolt on even though the Glokenrang eq was out there, just prefer the old neck through design... One day somebody will be selling the Holy Grail of all Vigiers the Arpege Nautilus!!!! Hen's teeth that!!!!! No idea how many were made. All the best and will post more pictures when set up in new outfit... Alan Ps dots are phosherent stickers great for dark stages.

It’ll be nice to have a new one! You’ll probably find the neck on the series 2 is a bit flatter so it will probably feel quite different. There’s a Nautilus for sale here but it doesn’t have the power supply pedal and the rear pickup is damaged. Patrice Vigier said it would be too difficult to restore it with any guarantee of it working. https://www.zikinf.com/annonces/dispannonce.php?annonce=1521419

If Patrice cannot guarantee probably a no goer....but in reality €1500 as a long term project for a rarity not that bad.....

marcblum
It HAD the 12-preset-electronics. But I don't like that one. So I replaced it by a Glockenklang-2-band electronic with active/passive capability. IMHO the only on-board electronic leaving natural sound and dynamics uncompromised. Pls hear attached file (neck passive / neck active / both passive / both active / bridge passive / bridge active): Vigier_Arpege_026_pu_vergleich.mp3

This thread is not helping GAS,it's definitely not indigestion I'm feeling just now Did you ever play one? There's nothing which can compare, completely different from all I played before. Same with me. Being a notorious sixer, I went through several high class gems, but for the last 1,5 years I really tied to my (now 3) Vigier bass guitars. What makes them so great? First: playability. Never ever played a bass which fits so easy into my hands. Responseness to different attack is natural, will reproduce very light attack, can cope with hard hits. It is so easy to play a Vigier. Second: ADSR (attack - decay - sustain - release). How fast tone builds up, how much transients project, does the overtones release in a consistent way...attack is not ultrafast and not snaily slow, fitting the bass sound very well between kick drum and guitars. Third: phenomenal fundamentals. Giving clear harmonic direction and definition. From audiences (non-musicians, musicians, luthiers) I consistently get feedback, that the band's sound significantly improved since I use the Vigiers on stage. The Arpege and Passion basses simply complement the other instruments, supports them and glue the band together

I play two 5 strings (both Passion) and two 6-strings (passion, arpege) , stunning basses with unique playing feel, sound, response.

mattbass6
New Vigier porn on it's way. I should have it next week. This is the teaser pic I was sent, yesterday. Very excited. Full, detailed pics upon arrival 😋
HazBeen
I should not come here, too GAS inducing. I have zero Vigiers, but I do have 3 Bogarts which have a very similar "feel", 80's modern, graphite galore, great tight sound etc. I just really dig the shape of the Passions.. want one...
ped
I very nearly bought a Bogart - really like the headless ones but with a kind of headstock shape at the end. They look really well made.

Indeed well made, but I will stop hijacking this Vigier thread (which are some seriously sexy sounding and looking basses in their own right).
