dont think ive posted these? my memory is quite bad mind..

im nearly coming to the end, of properly listening to everything hes done in his recording side.... i think the man is about as much of a musical genius as a guy can be... maybe not the classics, but times have changed

apart from Stevie, hes the last of the super star geniuses.. .. the best thing that happened for me was Prince asking Maceo to play for him....... on another thought i think money is slowly suffocating music...

check these out.. i love the way the organ fills out the sound.. then cuts it off for the space.. damn.....

Smokin suff from 'Work'....

Hi Bubinga,

Is Prince playing bass on the second track? Sounds great, rhythm section is fantastic. Great post thanks.

Sorry for the hijack B5, but I thought you (and other funk/Prince fans) would be interested:

That should be a fine gig!

My wife once won two tickets for The Brits. I had no desire to attend. Not my kind of thing (all that music industry backslapping crap and all that). Anyway, she took her sister instead.

What did I miss out on?

Prince live.....showing them all how it's done.

Paul Weller live....my biggest musical influence as a teenager in the late 70s & early 80s.

And a few others I had a liking for at the time.

Maybe I'll think twice next time!

Live At The Aladdin is my second fave vid after Y2K. Prince may be a wee bit egotistical and unfashionable but he's still one hell of a musician.
not sure about unfashionable, i think Prince dances to the beat of his own drum... times change but he will always be unique

I do love me some Prince. A few years back I bought Musicology and remember laughing out loud at some of the tunes because of the classic Prince-isms tracks like Musicology with that upper register riff, On the Couch with the little groans and the sheer filth of the track and some great playing and tone throughout. Rhonda Smith, I'd imagine, was responsible.

Oh and the showmanship! Fuggedabowdit!

Really looking forward to that - and nice to stumble across another member of the BC/BBC clan :)

Last episode in this series was Dennis Wilson I think - repeated on Sunday & Monday.

Often a lot of good music on BBC4 :)

You're BBC too? I suppose there must be a few of here!

I sadly didn't get to see the programme :)

Check out The Sensual Everafter on The Rainbow Children album.

Prince plays a bass solo on there. I'm not a big fan of bass solos but this is something else. Its not flash or brash; its just wonderful and uplifting as is the whole track. Not only good choice of notes but great tone too (and subtle effects). Treat yo ears!

Larry Graham played bass on The Work.
