Molded Cases... Hiscox vs. SKB

For the price, I would always recommend the Hiscox (Soundslive do them for £60). I have travelled many times with one and even with it being checked in to the hold I've never had problems. I think SKB supply Fender with their pre 2008 models and basing it on the one I have, I'd not let it anywhere near an airport, given that it is so flimsy.
Cheers all!

I went with the Hiscox in the end, but not before I bought an SKB (I'd already ordered it).

The SKB felt like a toy, so I ordered the Hiscox... what a difference! Solid as a rock.

I like it so much, I'm going to order another. So there.
Well done, that man!

Hiscox is THE best case out there for a hardcase.

Modulus use a customised SKB case which good but the Hiscox is still a vastly better design and in many way superior. I'm sure Modulus would use them save for the cost of shipping over to the USA which would greatly inflate the final cost.

But alas the US manufacturers are on the SKB band wagon.

Just some thoughts...

Ciao

Ian

A bit late i know, but I use Pelican cases for serious (ie. plane hold) travel.

They are absolutely indestructable, you can cut the internal foam to suit any bass which means nothing moves around inside, they have wheels, and they have pressure valves on the side in case of any in-flight nastiness.

The US army use them to transport weapons, and do air-drops with kit inside these!!

They crop up on ebay quite a bit, and at least you know they'll arrive safely if you buy internationally!!
Who makes Ricky cases? They seem pretty indestructable too.
Actually I find the standard Ric cases tend to be too brittle, notably where the feet are mounted. Three of my feet are pushed right in despite being very careful with everything I own, not just my pride and joy. I've seen mention elsewhere about the Ric cases feet issues, I think it was on the Ric forums.

Steve.
