xilddx
Cleartone Nickel Plated EMP Treated Cleartone's Nickel Plated bass strings are wound at high tension over a hex core to help maintain tuning consistency throughout your performance. EMP Treatment is then applied to all the strings to ensure longest tonal life without compromises. At one micron thin it won't feel slick or slippery to the touch, plus it lets the tone of the strings sing out more than other long life coatings. I'm fed up of my DR Black Beauties, my fourth G in a row has gone dead and I've hardly played it. DR sent me two sets after I complained about dead strings, and both Gs pretty much died very quickly. So I tried Elixirs a while back and they didn't set me alight. I and really after a piano-like tone with rich, even response and a bit of sizzle. But I don't like stainless, I prefer something a little softer feeling. Anyone tried Cleartones? They seem cheap for EMP coated strings at £24 from Stringbusters. Edited November 21, 2011 by silddx
xilddx
Thanks for all your help with this, guys, appreciated I ended up getting Warwick Black Label stainless, I have avoided stainless for over a decade. I have to say, they are really nice! Sort of a Rotosound vibe with a lot of depth, while not being crap. I'm happy with them, and no more dead strings.
