Ghost_Bass
Hi Does anybody knows where can i order one of these to mount in one of my cabs? I've searched e-bay and all the usual musicstores but haven't found one. Thank you! Cheers
Clarky
If you get no joy, there's always this useful little gigbag item http://www.giggear.co.uk/p/MarkBass-Mark-Stand/ or you can make a cheap copy
Ghost_Bass
Thanks for the tip Clarky but i don't trust it. I want to tilt the top cab like i did with my Promethean rig: I was looking for something like the system in the Promethean to install in one of my new cabs. LawrenceH
Isn't that just a recessed flip handle? Something like these: http://www.bluearan....=Sprung_Handles EDIT: I see it's non-recessed. There are some surface-mount sprung handles on there, looks like a 90 degree stop on the Promethean Edited November 22, 2011 by LawrenceH

Tonight i'll take a picture of the one in my Promethean's cab.

discreet
Plus the one for the Markbass Mark Stand, the twenty-first century equivalent of the beer crate. Only much easier to use, pack and carry! Edited November 23, 2011 by discreet
Ghost_Bass
Thanks for all replies. The MB seems to be well regarded but i want an even easier solution, fixed to my cabs. Here are some poor quality pics of the Promethean's:
LawrenceH
Yes, it's exactly like you described but it fixes the handle in the 90 degree at the same time. Tonight i'll take a picture of the one in my Promethean's cab.
So it looks like that one has a lock in both directions, holding it at 90 degrees or so. This should do a similar job, although these ones only lock in one direction this shouldn't matter if you mount the handle the right way round! http://www.penn-elcom.com/product/hardware/handles/elcom-recessed-handles/1851/306/ Alternatively I'm sure some of the surface-mount handles do the same. Ghost_Bass
Hi Laurence. To me it looks like that one doesn't lock on the open position, only stops but i'm probably wrong... I've foud this like the one i had in me Genz Benz STL-12 cab: http://www.tchweb.com/tchstore/product/503-1570/c900/Recessed-Retractable-Tilt-Foot.html But i would like to avoid anything recessed. I'm going to keep looking for the maker of the Ibanez tilt system, if i find anything i'll let you know
LawrenceH
Hi Laurence. To me it looks like that one doesn't lock on the open position, only stops
Yup that's right, but I can't see why that is a problem, all the force of the cab weight pushes it that way so it only has to stop in 1 direction. Good luck in your hunt though

Beer of the Bass
I've got an EA Wizzy 10 with a sprung handle on the bottom, so I can confirm that they do work OK as a tilt-back mechanism. It does spring back with a loud clack when you lift the cab though.

Looks like the cabinet handle is on top of the list but i have a little time before i actualy need to assemble the tilt so i'll keep looking! Do you think that if i was to send an e-mail to Ibby they would help me to find one? I have no experience with their customer support... Ghost_Bass
I thought i might post my findings along the way in order to help anybody with similar problems. So far i've found two other options: ampwedge: AER tilt system (similar to Markbass): I'll keep you posted on any other findings!
4 Strings
That's a groovy idea, how about speaking to the Promethean people for a spare? I'm benefitting from a tilty stand at the moment, not what you want as I only use one cab mostly. But I wondered if having your top cab raised by being on the bottom cab would be enough and whether its natural dispersion would mean little difference being made by slight tilting?
Ghost_Bass
That's a fair point! In my case the top cab will in fact benefit from the tilt because we're talking about very small cabs, the new Fender cabs aren't much bigger than the Promethean's (only a couple inches in deference). My new rig will be about 1.20 metres high therefore still under my hearing level. I've also tried to reach Ibanez customer service but i can't find a direct contact to them, the site links me to their closest retailer (in Spain!). Has anyone dealt with Ibby directly in the past and can provide me a contact? Cheers
Ghost_Bass
Having recieved the new cab and stacked them i'm beginning to feel that the tilt wont be that needed... probably just a small bit of hardcase foam to tilt the upper cab very slightly will be needed. I'll know more after my next gig (dec 3rd). (see pic on the Fender Rumble 112 topic!) Edited November 25, 2011 by Ghost_Bass
