Not generally a fan of the later Jamiroquai output but that is awesome! Great distinctive bass sound too.

Good call, plus anything on Tamla Motown or Stax for me.

Andy Rourke is probably my favourite bassist. But to be honest I can't think of many records I really love that weren't played on a precision bass...

I can only agree with preceding comments regarding the Stranglers-my personal choice would probably be Tank, closely followed by Hanging Around, Grip, or Threatened. Honourable mention also to Fall on me by REM, Debaser by the Pixies, and as I'm currently having a bit of a Foo Fighters period, probably Times like these (A Precision-alike at least, if not a real one).

Still in Love With You, off Live and Dangerous, Thin Lizzy featuring Mr Lynott

PLECTRUM DRIVEN HEAVEN! The whole of L&D, incredibly tight, considering Lynott's relaxed approach to the timing with his vocals. An incredible talent. Yes, good call.

Love P's with maple necks! (Apologies if the vids haven't embedded properly, always forget how to do it!)

Everyone's mentioned some great stuff, but, for me, it's all about Eric Avery from Jane's Addiction. Stupendous bassist, very influential and hugely underrated.

Precision + pick + SVT + taste + talent = WIN.

Here's one of his best basslines, on "Ted, Just Admit It":

He's awesome on the first three Janes' albums, but also try and track down an album called Deconstruction that he did with Dave Navarro after JA originally split up back in 1992. There's some fantastic bass on there.

Anything from Mad Capsule Markets 4 plugs album or the self titled 1996 album!!!

The much overlooked powerhouse that is John McCoy.

and sort of in a similar vein, Algy Ward.
