jonsebass
Evening Chaps During soundcheck for a gig ive got tomorrow i noticed that i didnt have a great deal of bottom end - it was a bit flat and bongy compared to the usual clarity i normally get out of it. I cant provide a picture of my EQ (7 band) but its pretty much just under flat at bass end, and slightly curving up towards the top end. BUT it makes the same noise with EQ off. I have my pre-shape on (again, same noise with it on), and my compression at just under 2 - yep, you guessed it, same noise with it on or off.. Playing thru a 1x15" matching 1153 cab. The cab is about 2ft away from the wall, and im about 3 ft away from my cab (I have stood as far as my lead will allow (about 10ft) away from the cab and still sounds the same. The room im in - cab is on a laminate floor, 2 feet away from a solid brick external wall. Majority of room is carpeted - its a football club so you kind of get the picture. Pre Volume is about 7, Post Volume is about 4/5 - ive tried different settings with that and again, no difference. Guitar is Squier VM Jazz Bass - one of the FSR 70's ones, and sounds the same no matter how the knobs are set. Any help to return me to my usual miserable bass playing self will be much appreciated! Pow_22
Perhaps try a more 'smiley face' eq setting? Boost the bass and mids and maybe drop the far end off a bit. From what youve said there it seems your leaving bass and mids flat and boosting treble so it will sound a little 'light'
