BB3000S
Hi guys, Have to share some pics of my latest addition, a wonderful late 70's / early 80's Fender Jazz in Cherry Burst (original finish, rather rare I think). Fell in love with the looks when I first saw it, and luckily it plays and sounds as wonderful as it looks. Cheers, Matt Edited December 3, 2011 by BB3000S
Muzz
Now, I don't like Jazzes, I don't like Cherryburst, and I'm not even keen on blocks, but I LOVE that. Wow. Tell me it weighs a ton (my old 78 weighed 11lb 12oz) and I can relax and stop GASing... Edited December 2, 2011 by Muzz

I have to be honest, it weighs in at 10.5 lbs which for a late 70's jazz isn't too bad, and anyway I assume some part of that 70's growl comes from the weight as well as from the PU placement.
very handsome
Cheers mate!
Chris Horton
That jazz looks wicked ! I used to have a 78 Precision in Cherry Burst , it was just the most striking colour . I still miss that bass...................................................................

molan
That may well be the nicest '70's Fender I've ever seen!
Kiwi
Not as rare as a Cherryburst with matching headstock This bloke seems to think that Cherryburst was offered only for one year. http://www.classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/basses/cbprecision.htm I saw a 50's P bass in cherryburst with an anodised scratch plate a few weeks back and it looked stunning. Nice bass Matt - congrats!

BB3000S
Cheets guys! I seem to have it that S8..... was used 1978-1980 and that E1... came in -81. However, based on your link it is probably from 1981. Let's say early eighties! The previous owner bought this in California in 1994 while studying at MI, and it was his only bass until like many of us being sucked into forumbased GAS a couple of years back. It has some very nice signs of wear accumulated over the years. Edited December 3, 2011 by BB3000S
Kiwi
This is the bass I referred to earlier. Although having seen yours I'm not so sure its cherryburst any more...could be sienna burst if they offered that colour back then or maybe a very faded standard sunburst.
