Pete Academy
I have a '79 Jazz and have decided to refinish it. It's natural at the moment, with a black scratchplate. What colour do you think would go with the scratchplate, or should I change that as well?
The Dark Lord
Black. And yes, change that to black too .... with the white bits round the edges.

Ogien
For me natural with black scratch plate looks good enough. Why to to cover natural grain of the body? Unless you will choose translucent finish.

JTUK
Pete, what neck config do you have..?? My next bass will be a transluc sunburst, with tort plate and RW block and bound neck. If maple with Mop, and you are thinking of a new repray, then the sexy reds ( as shown ) with white plate work very well. If the bass has any value from a potential vintage POV..leave well alone. molan
Was it originally natural? If so then a coloured refin will devalue it. Same goes for the scratchplate.
