sixdegrees
Can anyone tell me what the tone is like from a Markbass cab - ie, the natural voicing. I'm looking at pairing a 6 x 10 with an Ampeg head but don't want to mismatch. I've played through 15s and 210s, and combinations of the two before, but only with LM heads. Geddys nose
Be careful if it's a Classic (valve) head it's not a good match to the MB 6 ohm load of the 6x10 but with any SS or hybrid you should be alright. To answer your question I'm not a big fan of Markbass cabs they sound very sterile to my ears, quite natural sounding but missing a bit of character- but a lot do like them,As always I'd try one with your head to make sure your happy. sixdegrees
Thanks for the input. It's an SVT 7 head, so no problem with the impedance (and I probably wouldn't want a ported cab with a valve head if that were the case). Does 'natural sounding' mean that they produce the tone of the amp without much colouration, or is that a polite way of saying they sound bland? pietruszka
I found with my MB cab that natural sounding comes out as the sound of my bass. Im running a Aguilar AG500 SC, the cab to my ears and playing has lovely growly bottom end and tight, punchy, meaty mids. If you can get hold of one to try, give it a shot! If you live in the North East you're welcome to try my 410. Dan
leroydiamond
Different markbass cabs offer different types of voicing. i use the traveller series and they are compact and light. they lack the the punchy mids of the larger 4 by tens and are probably best suited to jazz as opposed to rock IMO
Prime_BASS
They are pretty clear in sound, usually quite even across the frequency range. For me they do lack something. They are IMO overpriced. A barefaced Super15 will be louder lighter and clearer in the mids than whgatever 6x10 markbass have.
sixdegrees
I'd love a Barefaced cab. But despite any hints I leave on here, Alex hasn't offered an endorsement yet... They're out of my price range - more than double what I'd pay for a second hand MB or Ampeg.
sixdegrees
So...I hope to have a sweeping poll to help me decide. Markbass 6 x 10 - 1200 watts @ 6 ohms or Wait for an Ampeg 610 HLF?
phatbass787
Or.... This seems a bargain! http://www.dv247.com/guitars/ashdown-abm-610-bass-guitar-extension-cabinet-as-new--89823
