Steve Wright just player 'Ghetto Child' by the Detroit Spinners.
Had forgotten what a great bassline! Lots of their other stuff was equally groovy too -
such as 'I'll be around' and 'Could it be I'm falling in love. Great Philly soul.

The Sounds of Philadelphia or Philly sound.
Some great tunes and superb Orchestrations & playing all round.
The stable was a bit like the Motown label, with their own bunch of players most of the time [MSFB]
Ronald Baker played Bass on loads of the stuff.

This is one of my favourite Jamerson bass lines:

Great track...
Just been reading some history with that track [urban myth has it that Stevie Wonder played kit on it]
And the Detroit Spinners were called just 'The Spinners' before they left Motown.
It was changed so as not to get confused with an English folk group called 'The Spinners' :)

This explains a lot! Searching Spotify for 'The Detroit Spinners' never brings this particular song up, now I get why.

Ok - so this version doesn't have Jamerson on it & the arrangement is a bit 'messy' at times but you have to love the suits & the dancing!

Also this - another great song:

According to Wiki, the Detroit Spinners also sang on the original version of Elton Johns 'Are you ready for love',
( which is my favourite EJ track too) . Another great bass line / Thom Bell production.
