Fender Clack or click?

High all,

I have a Squier Pbass and have noticed that when the strings touch the magnets on the pups, there is a loud click. Been told this is the Fender Clack.

Would swapping out the OE pups for Seymour Duncan SP1's get rid of the click?

quite possibly and if not at least it'll probabaly sound 10x better! (ive got quarter pounder P's and a Jazz pup in my P/J)

The strings shouldn't be touching the pole pieces. Play more lightly or lower your pickup.

Nope.

If you have exposed magnets on any pickup and tap a piece of steel against it you're gonna get a click.
You really need to drop the pickup height if you want to stop it from happening.

Suggest you lower the pickup and paint some clear nail varnish over the magnet tops.

Think I'll lower the pups, and the nail varnish thing sounds good. But I do love to dig into that E string
