JohnFitzgerald
Having a wee browse on Gumtree last night, as you do, I saw an advert. Pair of Laney 1x10 + Piezo PA cabs in beautiful condition. Guy lived local. Wanted £20 for the pair of cabs. I had no need for them, but £20 hardly buys you a set of strings these days. Quick email confirming if they're still for sale, I'll have them. This morning, back comes the email, yep still for sale, come and get them. I did. Brought them home tonight, stacked them up and sat the AH150 on top, plugges it in and switched it on. Light bulb moment. "Here, this might just work." Broke out the old jazz, turned it up and. "Ooh, nice". Dinky little microstack for home. Pleased. £20 ? I'll take it :-) Apologies for the (very) crappy photography. [attachment=95000:101728303.jpg] [attachment=95002:091220111004.jpg]

JohnFitzgerald
So, I said to SWMBO earlier. "You might want to go out for a bit, I want to try these little cabs to see how much noise they make and whether it's any good." So, she did. Stacked up, like in the pic, I fired it up at the same level as usual. Pre just on clipping on the Trace, post on 2.0 Certainly didn't produce as much bottom end as the 410tx, not that it should. Half the drivers, less than half the cab size. usable sound ? Too right it is !! If I might be churlish enough to criticise the Peavey 410, it's got a bit of a hole in the nice audible bit of the mid range. Plenty of the top and bottom, but a tad lacking in the mid honk that I love - the bit of the spectrum that pokes out above the bass drum and below the guitars. These little £20 boxes address that issue quite nicely. I'm going to try this hooked up to the PA and see how I get on. Wouldn't fancy going out with them and no PA support, but they might just be enough for me with the PA doing the real work. Might be just the job for my aching bones not having to lift that Peavey cab any more, rich sounding as it is. I'll be sure to tell you all about it when the inevitable happens and it all goes 'orribly wrong.
