M-N-Y
Wondered if any of you had come across this band. They're like a funk big band, quite outstanding musicians. For those of you who think they might like to check them out have a look at this, and keep an eye on the drummer towards the end. fingerz
Yes support these guys, they are sick players and the bass player runs it so it's for a good cause ; ) ! Great to see them getting recognition
M-N-Y
I understand they might be coming to the UK next year. If so I'll be there. Awesome!!
JamieBenzies
Yeah these guys are badass. The tune Skate U is my favourite one, the organ solo in it makes me go crazy.
M-N-Y
Great post Jamie, what a top piece of music. These guys are a revelation and they all seem so into the music. Thanks, Mark.
Huw Foster
That album is incredible. All the more so for being recorded live!
Austin7
I met their bassist years ago when they were still in Texas. That had to do with a coincidence more than anything else. He did seem like an interesting guy, though. Snarky Puppy has steadily achieved more prominence through the years. I have a feeling that will continue. JPrice
Snarky visited my college in trio form earlier this year (drums, bass and keys), and they were awesome! Then we all went to the pub.
M-N-Y
I bet that was great fun. I think they would sound very different in that context. I must admit part of the charm for me is hearing so many musicians groove strongly and knit together so well. Can't wait to hear the new music they're recording shortly. risingson
They are tight, and they make a great sound as well. Their bass player and MD Michael League is a bit of a monster player. All the band are based in Brooklyn NY now, living the dream.

stonecoldbass
Yeah I'm a massive fan of them too. For me it's incredible how tightly orchestrated it all is but never sounds cluttered. And just huuuge grooves. Makes me smile
M-N-Y
Thanks for the positive response chaps. Please spread the word, this band deserves our support. I hear they might be over in the UK next year. I'll keep you all posted. Cheers, Mark.
TRBboy
Just thought I would warn everyone that I downloaded the Tell Your Friends from Amazon, but the first track "whitecap" is only 1:29 long instead of 8:28! It just cuts off mid-groove! It wasn't even a ballsup with the download, I looked afterwards and they advertise it as 1:29 on the track listing! I would love to complain, but it seems you can only do so if your complaint fits into one of the pre-determined categories.....
M-N-Y
Yeah happened to me too. I just downloaded the single track from I tunes although it did cost me an extra 99p.
Huw Foster
The spotify version has the same issue with track 1.
stonecoldbass
I recommend buying the CD from the record company website, ropeadope records. Not only do you get a lovely, Hi Fidelity CD for your cash, but you get a DVD with the making of on it and for $5 you get a cool ass T shirt! Sometimes old school is new school...or something C
