urb Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Hey Chaps and Chapesses I finally got around to editing some of the best bits from a gig I did back in October with my band Groove Digger Collective - we were in a nine-piece formation for the night with great players in the band like Italian tenorist Roberto Manzin (who plays great solos on all the tunes except 'Push'), pianist Chris Jerome, trumpeter Rowan Porteus, saxophonist Matt Telfer, - plus a great rhythm section with Jon Newey on percussion, Saleem Raman on drums, myself on bass and Pete Duncan on guitar/arrangements - plus our singer Julia Nutter. All recorded off the desk but mixed by the sound engineer and then mastered a bit by me... anyway it was a great night, by the time we played 'Cold Duck Time' we were rocking - and the place loved it too - anyway I hope you enjoy some of this stuff - I'll be putting it up for Download from Bandcamp at some point soon as well: Static http://soundcloud.com/munkio/static-live-at-pizza-express Windjammer http://soundcloud.com/munkio/windjammer-live-at-pizza Push http://soundcloud.com/munkio/push-live-at-pizza-express Cold Duck Time / Wicked Game http://soundcloud.com/munkio/cold-duck-time-live-at-pizza Thanks for listening Mike Quote
MuckedUpFunkies Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I really enjoyed that! The groove flowed really nicely and your bass playing was SH*IT hot ;D Not too sure on the female vox but that's how I roll! Thanks for sharing Dan Quote
urb Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 Thanks guys - I love grooving hard with this band - it's fun playing with such good musicians too... cheers for listening M Quote
Horizontalste Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I love the female vocals, Soz Dan. Great work man, I'm off to enjoy it some more. Quote
ShergoldSnickers Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 (edited) Would I buy these as recorded tracks?.... maybe not, it's not what I'd usually listen to at home. Would I gladly pay to see this band live, knowing you were going to get a great evening of music and come home buzzing after seeing some great musicians who play like they really enjoy it? Damn right I would. Edited December 17, 2011 by ShergoldSnickers Quote
DannyBAL_CPD Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 That's what I'm talking about Mike. When you guys playing again, and is there an Mp3, or CD to purchase? Quote

[/quote] Cool - glad you dug it - we just played a cracking gig in south London at the fantastic Hideaway club in Streatham last Friday, sorry I didn't mention it here - but we have nothing else booked for now but I'll let you know as and when we do - the band really are killing live - I plan on adding these tracks to Bandcamp very soon and I'll post a link here when I do - thanks for the positive feedback! Cheers Mike Quote
