stingrayfan
Anyone tried/used/owned one of Fender's 'Big Block' Precisions? How do they sound and feel? Really different to a Precision. Like a lot of people here, I'm thinking dirty thoughts about getting a P bass and this caught my eye. bass_ferret
They do look like sex! The question has been asked before but not sure if any actually got one. Might be put off if they were MIM.
stingrayfan
Hmm. Turns out they are MIM and the review on Harmony Central doesn't bode well... "...in active mode, the bass sounds cold and modern, regardless what you dial in. In passive mode the bass sounds woodier and warmer, but still too flat and boring. This is no match at all for a regular precision or jazzbass." Sounds like the pickup could be the dealbreaker. Shame - block inlays, painted headstocks and no pickguard are all GAS triggers for me!
Bernmeister
I'm also sure this has been asked before & i did brief review on one last year if i can find the link, i'll add it.

..................that's a bit of a turn-off (but a great GAS-extinguisher! ), because that is one sexy precision.

Buzz
I dunno, for some reason it just doesn't strike me. Jazz body might get away with it, but on a p bass I can't help thinking that it's supposed to be Fender's version of a Stingray.
