munkonthehill
Get one of these if you have the chance..... I was holding out for a pedal that will do valve and O/D soundings that has the DI incase I need it. When this came up for sale I jumped at it. I use it at every rehearsal and any stage time I get. I couldnt imagine not having it at hand now. Clarky
Thanks Rich but the Valvedrive is a bit bigger than what I was looking for - looking for a smallish footprint pedal that pops in a gigbag pockets alongside cables etc
RichF
fair enough, that's the only reason I sold the VT2. The search continues.
Clarky
Have you heard of the Made By Mike SFT clone? He might be able to do a custom w/DI. I've never tried one, but I'd be interested to hear any reports...
I've just dropped him an email, will see what he says about feasibility/cost. Thx for tip-off
KK Jale
You're welcome. Another schematic basis for a DI mod to run by him might be the OCL/Runoffgroove Flipster... (Humungous TB thread, link to schematic in first post: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f36/ampeg-fliptop-stompbox-flipster-349921/ ) Edited December 19, 2011 by KK Jale
woodyratm
Might be worth giving max at SFX a shout. Get something made to order. Max is a great guy to deal with and his pedals are excellent also.

wally8
I second the notion of the bdi21. Cheap as chips and gives a real nice sound with Di option. Dunno how it fairs against the big boys but im happy with mine.
walplayer
Why go for 'valve sounding' when you can get one with a real valve in it Use what the pros use: A-Designs Reddi - expensive but supposed to be the best there is! I know a serious touring pro & session musician who swears by these There's lots of info about them online but here's the first video review I found: Of course, you know who's going to be stocking these soon. . . Our very own Borntobemild from BassGear
This would be ideal for what you've described . Also the groove tubes brick might do what you're looking for a bit cheaper, you see them for 200-250 used.
Clarky
I have decided to get Max at sfx to build me a custom pedal incorporating the Micro Red Dragon http://www.sfxsound....icro_red_dragon with an XLR out. Decided I wanted solid state, so no risk of valve failure/fragility, but with ability to emulate valve sound. Plus his pedals are teensy so very gigbag friendly! RichF
pretty much exactly my decision - sold the big valve pedal and replaced it with a micro red dragon (not yet arrived). have to say again though, if someone has the space dont hesitate to go with a DHA VT2. Clarky
Max just sent me this picture of the completed pedal. Should arrive in next few days Looks ultra-simple to use (I don't like lots of knobs and dials) and I am really looking forward to putting my P bass through this

Clarky
Nope, it arrived in post yesterday and I got home late from work. Built like a (very small) tank and nice and simple for a numpty like me. Might get a chance tonight
