sockdeluxe_mikey
Hi all! I got my lovely double bass a few weeks ago, but I now need a pickup and a case to go with it. All the case needs is decent wheels, and all the pickup needs to be able to do is do handle both arco and pizz. thisnameistaken
I don't have anything but some advice: Have you seen the bass wheels you can buy, that go in your endpin hole? That way you can use any soft case and just have the wheel sticking out between the zips. I would imagine a cloth case fitted with castors is going to tear around the rivets, and a hard case fitted with castors won't go in your car, so an endpin wheel might be a better solution. They are also pneumatic so would give your bass a much softer ride than nylon castors. Some pickups work better on some basses than others. If your bass is very resonant and grand-sounding you might want to look at the Realist or the Full Circle, whereas for ply basses you'll probably get good enough results from a bridge wing piezo like the Bass Max, but in any case you may need a specialist preamp to get a decent sound - many bass guitar amps can't handle the ultra-high impedance input from a piezo pickup. Damo200
I have a super padded 7/8 size Tom & Will case with wheels in almost new condition but you'd really need to collect it from London as it would be a nightmare to post. £100 would do.
