urb
The very sadly missed Esbjorn Svensson Trio - the pianist died tragically in 2008 age 44 - anyway if you've never listened to them their album 'Seven Days Of Falling' is great - there's some great bowed distortion bass on the end of this tune: Great live version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7KXq6RJ0PA I love the distorted solo on the original a bit more though - it comes in perfectly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNzf1CfIAC8 Love that band - so wish the man was still with us RIP dude.... their whole back catalogue is pretty stunning so check them out
lovetheblues
Thanks for all the great posts here mates! I've enjoyed listening to them on a snowy afternoon in Michigan, USA. In the spirit of things, considering the holidays, here is a bit of amateur jazz with a holiday flavor. Be kind in your listening - it features my 15 year-old daughter on sax doing "Baby it's Cold Outside" by Frank Loesser with her high school jazz band. First time they've performed it live, and they didn't do too bad, if I can say so from a proud parent point of view Hope you can look past the not-so-great and enjoy it nonetheless Cheers and Happy Holidays to all! Bilbo
This is a San Francisco based jazz collective featuring some of todays leading new young players. They recently did a double cd of arrangements of Stevie Wonder tunes. So, have a listen to the one we have all played taken in a different direction. Stevie Wonder's 'Superstition'.
If anyone is interested, there are charts (inc a bass chart) for this arrangement available to download for free on Misguel Zenon's website miguelzenon.com. Look for the 'music' tab and scroll down to 'charts'. They are presented under each of his cds and there is a full arrangement for Superstition as well as individual parts. I spent some time with it yesterday and its a doozy!
