Happy Jack Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) Junkyard Dogs are playing the Xmas gig at the George IV in Chiswick High Road on Friday 23rd December. http://www.lemonrock.com/junkyarddogs We have MacDaddy on lead guitar, Paul (of SE Bassbash fame) on drums, Happy Jack playing bass through the Barefaced Rig Of Doom (Super Twelve + Compact + Midget), and hopefully BlueJay taking the official photos for the new website being developed for us by Stingray5. It's a family affair ... Three sets, starting on the hour from 9:00pm. The pub is 200 yards from Turnham Green tube (District Line before 10:30pm, then District and Piccadilly Lines afterwards) so it's dead easy to get to, and they charge proper pub prices for proper beer - none of your £3.90 for a pint of bottled beer from the fridge nonsense. Clarky Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 How are you going to fit that rig (pictured below) in a pub, Jack? Quote
Low End Bee Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Shame I'm on the road West that night. I do enjoy a JYD night in a Fullers pub. Nice to see a covers band play tunes not on the standard list. If you haven't seen them before you should do. They're well worth the admission...... Quote
Happy Jack Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 You bar steward ... Admission is ... a nice smile at the bass player. Quote
Oopsdabassist Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Just had a peek at your set list..some great stuff there, not seen ANY other band do the Stretch song, just us and you I think! Really needs some horns to liven it up when we do it..how do you manage? Quote
Happy Jack Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 You need brass for that song if you play it straight through. What we do is segue at the "One Two" moment into Cissy Strut, then turn that into an extended funk break, before we segue back into Why Did You Do It? for the final verse. There's never time for the audience to get bored, or to realise there's something missing. Always gets a good reaction, that song. A classic example of what we're trying to achieve ... "Ooooh! I haven't heard this in ages!" Quote
MacDaddy Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 The Junkyard Dogs will be giving February a kick up the 'arris on Friday 10th Feb, at the George IV (again!) in Chiswick. Featuring Basschats very own Happy Jack and MacDaddy, and including SE Bassbash drummer in residence Paul. Good band, good pub, good beer, free entry. What more do you want on a cold Friday in February? http://www.junkyarddogslondon.co.uk/live.html Quote
