Clarky Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 The first Alembic Classico upright bass ever made, being sold through the Gallery. Ex-John Giblin (John Martyn, Kate Bush, SImple Minds etc) http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_details.cfm?ID=2102&type=Bass%20Guitar Quote
ficelles Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 For what it is, that's actually remarkably good value. If I weren't so poor I'd have it... maybe Santa will make it happen ficelles Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 If its not good enough for John Giblin, its not good enough for me. Quote
Clarky Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011
Very nice, but no.
You and me both, Roger! Thats a lot of moolah for what is, after all, an EUB ... even if a very high quality EUB. I flagged it up as there may be someone who is itching for one of these, given their rarity value Quote

A bit like gassing for an Aston Martin; would you really want to take one to the supermarket car park? I'd end up getting a music room specially built to house the thing. And air conditioning. And insurance. And swearing not to play it while pissed. And no matter when I played it I'd still sound like cr*p. :0 Edited December 23, 2011 by fatback Quote
BassBod Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I'd be more interested in the Zon fretless.....but at half the price! Quote
Bobby K Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 loads of Giblin's basses on there it seems.... Quote

How many of those would you need to play? Truly staggered at the notion of being able to just buy a double-bass made in 1755. Basschat needs an emoticon for wide-eyed astonishment. Quote
