ead
If I wanted to change the scratch plate on my Fender MIM P is it as simple as removing the control knobs, undoing the screws and then reversing the process? Slightly emabarrassed to ask
icastle
Yep it's that easy. Make sure you buy a MIM compatible scratchplate though or you'll have a pig of a job lining the screwholes back up afterwards.
Ou7shined
Don't forget the nuts that hold the pots & jack socket on.
ead
Cheers fellows. Is there a particular way to identify compatible SPs from vendors, i.e. do they specifiy which basses match their template? It's early days yet and I've not decided what I'm looking for colour wise nor gone hunting for suppliers (midnight wine bass, parchment SP at present). icastle
[quote name='ead' timestamp='1324592162' post='1476163'] Cheers fellows. They both have 13 holes, but the screw position varies slightly. Just look out for 'MIM' in the description of the item you are looking to buy. The other thing to remember is that you might just have to file a little bit of plastic away on the neck heel or pickup holes to get it to fit neatly - they're often made a little tight.
