power/ohm question

Sorry if this is obvious and I feel like I should know, I just wanted to be sure before I try....

I have a Warwick Quad IV head and Eden Nemesis 2 x 10 cb(8 Ohms, 300watt) The quad IV is 4 Ohms, 400 Watt so is it OK to use it with this cab? I assume the head will run at 8 Ohms at half the power but it doesn't say anywhere in the documentation (or on the net that I can find) that it will do that.....

Aye. Running a single 8ohm cab will get between 200-300 odd watts out of the head. It should be perfectly fine.

It's not half power exactly but yes, you can use your 2x10 quite safely with that amp.

It's OK to run any amp with any cab so long as there's no impedance mis-match. If the amp is powerful enough to cause the speakers to distort turn it down.

Note that impedance matching rules are different for valve and solid state power stages.
