Recording on the iPad. .need help

Okay, I have GarageBand ( no bass amps). I have amplitude ,and it all works in my monitors.

I have played around with GB ,and am impressed by what you can do.

What I would like to do , is play my bass , with the GarageBand drums at the same time.
Can it be done? I think it can on the normal version of GB.

Also, I have downloaded some cool synth apps , and would like to use them in GarageBand the same way. Please could someone advise me how to record song ideas? While all these apps and the iPad look lovely, I don't want complication. Please advise .)
